Spike in trauma cases in Western Cape in past week

CAPE TOWN - Western Cape emergency, rescue and hospital teams are preparing for a busy festive season.

This past week alone, 108 gunshot trauma cases have been seen by medical personnel in the province.

Higher travel volumes, water activities and alcohol-related cases traditionally account for a high number of admissions.

Western Cape government officials are urging residents and holidaymakers to behave responsibly.
