POLOKWANE - Three people have been arrested in connection with a suspected R16-million security tender scam at the Blouberg Local Municipality in Limpopo.
The Hawks say the investigation began in 2024 after complaints about alleged irregularities in the awarding of the tender.
Investigators allege the company that won the contract did not meet some of the mandatory requirements.
The Hawks say firearm details submitted in the tender documents were allegedly linked to firearms belonging to other security companies.
They also allege that some certificates and certification stamps submitted by the company were fraudulent.
The security company linked to the investigation has also been charged.
The three suspects, aged between 37 and 57, were arrested in Polokwane.
