UMLAZI - Three suspected cash-in-transit robbers have been killed in a shootout with police and private security in Umlazi, KZN.
Initially, police had reported that four suspects were shot and killed, however, this number has since been revised to three by KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda.
Netshiunda said a manhunt for other suspects involved in this alleged robbery has been launched.
"We know with experience that there are getaway vehicles and there are those who were not at the crime scene. So, we don't know how many of them were at the crime scene, but a manhunt is on for those that we saw, which we are pursuing now," Netshiunda said.
He said four firearms were found at the scene and in one abandoned vehicle, officials found cash believed to be that which was stolen.
