Treatment plant damage causes year-long NMB beach closure

GQEBERHA - Nelson Mandela Bay residents have to wait a little longer for the reopening of Brighton Beach.

The municipality says the beach still has high levels of E. Coli.

It was detected at the beginning of December last year.

Residents say they’re frustrated by the municipality’s delays in completing repairs to the Freshwater Treatment Works.

The Nelson Mandela Bay municipality is asking residents to be patient, emphasising that the beach remains unsafe for use due to the ongoing E. coli contamination.
