JOHANNESBURG - A man suspected to be responsible for the murder of Boitumelo Mashita in Thembisa on Monday morning has been found dead inside his vehicle in Midrand.
This has led the police to register an inquest case for investigation.
According to Gauteng police spokesperson Brenda Muridili, the man is believed to be Mashita’s estranged husband.

Muridili said authorities who had been tracing him as a person of interest were informed by the Midrand Police Station that his car had been found within the policing precinct with his body inside.
Police are now working to establish the cause of his death.
“It is believed that he may have ingested an unknown substance, as no foul play is suspected at this stage. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death,” she said.
On Monday morning, residents of Temong in Thembisa woke up to gunshots and the body of a 23-year-old woman lying on Mapungubwe Street.
At the time of the incident, Mashita was on her way to work but never made it there.
