JOHANNESBURG - Two Chinese nationals, both aged 43, have been arrested after they were found in possession of stolen copper sheets worth an estimated R16 million in Booysens, Johannesburg.
The men were arrested during an intelligence-driven operation conducted by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department's Tactical Response Unit on Thursday.
According to the JMPD, officers acted on information relating to the theft of copper sheets linked to a Maydon Wharf SAPS case in Durban.
"The information led the officers to the truck transporting the stolen copper at a warehouse on the corner of Treu and Vlak streets in Booysens," the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement.
The two suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
