JOHANNESBURG - Two more senior SAPS officers have been issued with notices of intent to suspend them.
They must now explain why they should not be suspended. The suspensions are in relation to their alleged association with alleged underworld figure Vusumuzi "Cat" Matlala.
The two officers, whose names are known to eNCA, were implicated in testimony at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
Earlier this week, four other senior police officials were also served with notices of suspension, as part of a widening probe into the irregular awarding of a multi-million rand police health management contract.
The four officers have already been charged internally for breaching bid-adjudication committee processes.
The Hawks have declined to comment. Hawks spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale said it was an internal "human resources" matter.
"The matter relates to an employer-employee relationship and is being managed in accordance with the applicable laws, policies and internal processes.
"We request that the organisation be afforded the opportunity to deal with it through the prescribed channels. It would therefore be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.
