Two suspects arrested for Kruger murders

POLOKWANE - Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of a couple at the Kruger National Park last month.

They were nabbed in Mozambique, following a collaborative cross-border effort. Officials are in the process of extraditing the suspects to South Africa to stand trial for the double-murders.

The bodies of Ernst (71) and Dina (73) Marais from Mossel Bay were found with stab wounds on 22 May in the Levubu River after they were reported missing. They were last seen at a picnic site earlier in the week before failing to return.

Their lifeless bodies were later discovered near Cross Corner at the meeting point of the Levubu and Limpopo Rivers.

The retired couple had checked in at their lodgings on 17 May.

Police say more arrests are expected as detectives pursue new leads and identify further suspects.
