MTHATHA - Two Walter Sisulu University students died in separate incidents at the weekend.
In the first incident, on Saturday, 30 May, a 19-year-old male student from the university was found dead at Chris Hani Park in Mthatha. It is alleged the student was walking home from a local tavern when he slipped on wet ground and fell onto a bottle he was carrying.
"The bottle broke and caused an open wound on his thigh, leading to excessive bleeding," Police said.

In another incident, on Sunday, 31 May, a 22-year-old was tragically killed in KuGompo City after a microwave exploded while she was cooking food.
According to police, the student who suffered burns and died due to smoke inhalation was cooking food wrapped in aluminum foil in a microwave when the explosion happened.
Two inquest dockets have been opened. Police say post-mortem examinations will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
