DURBAN - Residents of Umlazi H want to relocate after losing their homes in the floods.
They complain that government has been slow with this process.
Human Settlements Minister Thembi Simelane says many areas are prone to floods, not just Umlazi.
Those whose houses are still intact, fear they may collapse at any time, as heavy rains show no signs of letting up.
Simelane said, "Nobody would have predicted there are houses right In front of the ocean which were flooded in the very nice estate Zimbali and why did they build there because it was economically viable, it was in front of the beach, it's beautiful. I’m sure they have a benefit as well when it hot they can go and swim in the ocean."
