UPDATE: Dobsonville child rape case postponed

JOHANNESBURG - The rape case against a 58-year-old man from Dobsonville, Soweto has been postponed to 22 April for further investigation.

The man made a brief appearance in the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

He was arrested for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl.

The incident has sparked widespread national outrage, particularly after a video allegedly showing the aftermath of the assault began circulating on social media over the Easter weekend.

Social Development Minister, Sisisi Tolashe, condemned the act, describing it as a grim reflection of the ongoing gender-based violence crisis.
