PRETORIA - Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matlala's appearance at the Madlanga Commission has been postponed to 15 July.

Matlala made a brief appearance at the Commission on Tuesday after he was subpoenaed to do so.

It was discovered that some statements had not yet been provided to the Commission.

The statements will be filed on Wednesday.

The alleged crime boss was previously subpoenaed to appear, but his testimony has been postponed.

Evidence leaders requested the postponement, citing risks due to high media and public interest.

Matlala is currently busy with discussions with the NPA on a plea deal.

He has agreed to turn state witness in a corruption trial involving Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola.

Matlala is considering whether he'll accept a lesser sentence of 12 years in return for his testimony.
