UPDATE: Molemo 'Jub Jub' Maarohanye case postponed

JOHANNESBURG - The case against musician and TV personality Molemo "Jub Jub" Maarohanye has been postponed to 24 August for further investigation.

Maarohanye made a brief first appearance in the Germiston Magistrate's Court on Monday. He is currently out on R5,000 bail.

The 45-year-old was arrested on 14 June on charges of kidnapping, unlawful discharge of a firearm and defeating the ends of justice. He is currently out on bail after approaching the high court in Johannesburg.

Police allege that Maarohanye confronted an e-hailing driver in Edenvale, accusing him of having a relationship with his girlfriend.

He forced him into a vehicle and fired a shot in his direction. The driver escaped unharmed and reported the incident to police, leading to Maarohanye's arrest.

This is not the first time Maarohanye has faced legal trouble. He was convicted in 2012 over a crash that killed four schoolchildren.

In 2024, charges of rape, attempted murder and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm were withdrawn.
