JOHANNESBURG - The US has tightened visa restrictions to include travellers from Namibia and Botswana.
Those citizens will now pay up to $15,000 or around R250,000 to enter the US.
The new measures follow Namibia's decision to end visa-free entry for Americans.
It's the latest in a broader crackdown under Presidential Proclamation 10998.
It suspends or limits entry for nationals of 39 countries, including several in Africa.
The US State Department has quietly expanded the list of countries subject to the restrictions.
It includes posting a bond of between $5,000 and $15,000 for a standard B1/B2 tourist or business visa.
But remember, payment also does not guarantee a visa.
