Villages on edge after four lions escape from Kruger National Park

JOHANNESBURG - A search is underway for four lions on the loose in Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga.

The lions escaped from Kruger National Park on Sunday.

Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency spokesperson Simphiwe Shungube said a team is on the ground trying to search for the lions by using drones, dogs and tracks.

"The lions were spotted adjacent to the park. We are determined that we will get these lions," he said.

Shungube advised the community to alert them and not try to catch the lions themselves.

"The community must rest assured that we are working around the clock to ensure the lions are located."
