These are some of the things residents are urging President Cyril Ramaphosa to address.
At exactly 7pm this Tuesday, Ramaphosa is expected to address the nation on the government’s plans to tackle gender-based violence.
His address comes amid a growing number of women being murdered in Ekurhuleni.
As the nation waits in anticipation for what the president will say, residents who spoke to eNCA ahead of this address said they do not want to hear empty promises.
“We are tired of speeches that are empty and have nothing to say about women being protected. Women are killed daily, and nothing is being done,” one resident said.
Bodies of 11 women have been discovered across Ekurhuleni since July 2026.
These discoveries not only sent shockwaves through communities where these bodies were found, but they also got the country asking why women's routines have to change to avoid being attacked.
