NASHVILLE- US country music legend Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80.
Her nephew revealed the news on Tuesday night in a video posted across Parton's social media platforms.
"This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago before I fully absorbed it as a future reality," Seaver said.
Seaver said while her death leaves them in pain, he recognised the role Parton's played worldwide.
"My family and I have shared a lifetime of beautiful memories with Dolly and so have you. She has been on your television, record player, CD and on your phone, playlist becoming an extended part of your family whether you liked it or not,"
Parton was born in 1946 and lived in a one-bedroom cabin on the banks of the Little Pigeon River in Tennessee.
She was the fourth of 12 children.
Her father, Robert Lee Parton, was a tobacco farmer and paid a missionary a sack of cornmeal for delivering her.
Her legendary career spanned over six decades, and she was known for work including 'Jolene', '9 to 5', and 'I Will Always Love You.'
