CAPE TOWN - The uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK Party) argued that the Western Cape High Court lacks jurisdiction to hear President Cyril Ramaphosa's application to review the Phala Phala independent panel report.
According to MK Party lawyer, Advocate Dali Mpofu, once a court lacks jurisdiction, it has no power to give any order or even a postponement.
This was heard when the matter returned to court on Thursday.
The report found that Ramaphosa may have a case to answer in relation to the theft of $580,000 from his Phala Phala game farm in February 2020.

The report, released in November 2022, found prima facie evidence that the President may have violated the Constitution.
Parliament has since established an Impeachment Committee to consider the matter.
But Mpofu insisted that Ramaphosa was wasting the court's time and that the only thing South Africans want is answers on how he handled the Phala Phala farm theft.
Mpofu further deemed the review process as a delay tactic and a way of “avoiding accountability”.
