CAPE TOWN - Hot, dry, and windy weather is stoking a perilous start to the Western Cape’s festive season.
Provincial authorities have upped fire season funding from R16-million to R19-million.
The Cape Winelands and Overberg are still being flagged as wildfire hotspots.

Fire crews have managed to contain several blazes in recent days, with mop-up operations now underway.
Local Government MEC Anton Bredell said most of the fires are caused by human behaviour.
"We do everything possible to keep our people and property safe," he said.
