CAPE TOWN - Police authorities in the Western Cape are ready to receive the SANDF members deployed to fight against gang violence in the province.
According to Western Cape Police Commissioner Thembisile Patekile, it is yet to be discussed how many members will be deployed and when they will hit the ground running.
But he confirmed that they will focus on hot spot areas.
"It is too soon to say how many members of the SANDF will be deployed because the plan is yet to be finalised. We will be finalising over the weekend."
"It will only be after the national commissioner, and his counterparts will we know how many they will be deploying," Patekile said.
During the State of the Nation Address on Thursday, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the deployment of the South African National Defense Force (SANDF) to Gauteng and the Western Cape to deal with the issues of gang violence and illegal mining.
Patekile welcomed the deployment, saying it will assist in their fight in dealing divisively with murders, gun violence and drugs in the province.
