JOHANNESBURG - The Ndimande brothers have finally arrived in South Africa.
They were extradited from Eswatini to face charges in connection with the murders of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.
But as the country witnesses their return, the late musician’s father says he still has one burning question: Who commissioned the hit on his son?
Tony Forbes spoke to eNCA as the Ndimande brothers landed at King Shaka International Airport under heavy police guard on Tuesday morning.
“We must not forget that the person who commissioned this is not among the seven who have now been arrested. So my question, not necessarily to them but to everyone, is: Who commissioned this and who’s behind it?” Forbes said.
As the Ndimande brothers made their way through the airport, Forbes said this moment had been a long time coming.
“‘Excitement’ is probably not the right word. But I am pleased that we have arrived at this stage. It’s been a long time coming. For me, I feel satisfied that when the trial starts, I hope all seven will be there together, in particular, the brother that pulled the trigger.”
Reflecting on the lengthy extradition process, Forbes said he always knew it wouldn’t be an easy road.
“The day they called to say that two brothers had been arrested in Eswatini, my expectations were managed by officials who explained that this would be a complicated process, but it would happen quickly. And today, it’s happening so I am pleased,” he added.
AKA and his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane were gunned down on Florida Road in Durban in 2023.
