JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced changes to his national executive, appointing Willie Aucamp as the new Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment.
Dion George is removed from the position in line with a request from the Government of National Unity partner, the Democratic Alliance.
Ramaphosa has also named Alexandra Abrahams as Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition.
Abrahams takes up the position vacated by Andrew Whitfield, who was removed in June.
Both executive positions are filled by DA nominees in line with the GNU agreement.
DA Leader John Steenhuisen commented on the changes to the national executive.
“These appointments will strengthen the DA’s contribution to the GNU, and advance the urgent reform agenda our country and its people so desperately need,” Steenhuisen said.
