SOVENGA – A partially dressed young woman has been found dead outside the University of Limpopo’s fence.
Police in Mankweng have opened an inquest docket following the discovery of the body of a 22-year-old female along Sovenga Street.
Officers were patrolling when they were informed of the discovery.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba said the woman’s head was positioned inside a trench adjacent to the fence.
“The body was inspected and no visible external injuries were observed at the scene. A bag containing the deceased's identity document and NSFAS card was found next to the body.
“Members of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were summoned and declared the 22-year-old female dead upon arrival at the scene.
“It is suspected that the deceased may have accidentally fallen into the trench and the exact circumstances surrounding her death are under investigation,” Mashaba said.
The identity of the deceased will be revealed once her family has been notified.
Police have opened an inquest and investigations are continuing.
