PRETORIA - A casual online date turned into a nightmare for a 28-year-old woman who was catfished and kidnapped in Pretoria on Monday.
The scammer had lied about his identity, using someone else's pictures to lure the victim on Facebook, with the promise of job opportunities.
The women was driven to Giyani in Limpopo, where she was repeatedly raped and beaten before being rescued at a filling station.
A 24-year-old man has since been charged with rape and kidnapping, and investigations into his involvement in similar cases continue.
