WSU student protest | Students feel intimidated by private security

JOHANNESBURG - The fatal shooting of a student at Walter Sisulu University has sparked outrage on campus and beyond.

Students now complain that private security personnel conduct raids in their residences, leaving them intimidated.

Mismanagement and corruption in the National Student Financial Aid Scheme are blamed for this poor state of affairs.

"It is also very telling that you can see, when there are clashes with students, they are very apparent," said the GOOD Party's Kaden Arguile.

"Videos are circulating in the last 24 hours, not only these private security officers acting almost like a pseudo police force, but on top of that, going to the residences where students are supposed to feel safe with weapons, with intimidation on their minds."
