JOHANNESBURG - The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for the northern parts of the country.
The affected areas include the central to eastern parts of the North West, Gauteng and the central to western parts of the Limpopo province.
The Weather Service has warned of severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours, strong damaging winds and hail. This can cause localised flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas and bridges.

Localised damage to settlements and infrastructure is expected over Gauteng, North West and Limpopo.
The Weather Service also warns of damaging winds over Nelson Mandela Bay and Buffalo City Metro Municipalities. These winds will also travel over the Ndlambe, Nqgushwa and Sundays River Valley Local Municipalities.
A fire warning has also been issued for Matzikama Municipality, Cederberg, Bergrivier and Kamiesberg municipalities.
