Zuma, Mbeki await ConCourt ruling on Khampepe recusal

JOHANNESBURG - The Constitutional Court is expected to rule on applications by former presidents Jacob Zuma and Thabo Mbeki.

The two former presidents want retired Justice Sisi Khampepe removed as chairperson of the TRC Cases Inquiry.

They approached the apex court after the High Court dismissed their applications.

Zuma and Mbeki argue that Khampepe’s previous roles on the TRC Amnesty Committee and as Deputy National Director of Public Prosecutions create a conflict of interest and a reasonable apprehension of bias.
