Discussion | Budget cuts impact WC's Education Dept

 

JOHANNESBURG - The number of pupils requiring placement in the Western Cape has increased by 19,000 spots each year for the past five years.

Now, the Western Cape Education Department says budget cuts impacted  plans to build 21 new schools in the province.

 Last year, the department was been forced to make drastic cuts after the national government slashed R790m from its grants.

eNCA spoke to department spokesperson, Bronagh Hammond.
