Johnson tells the Commission she would be remiss if she did not dismiss the suggestion that Khumalo was arrested because he was the coordinator of the Political Killings Task Team. She says he was arrested in his capacity as divisional commissioner of Crime Intelligence.
"It is false and unfortunate. The truth is that IDAC was investigating Lt-Gen Khumalo in his capacity as divisional commissioner of Crime Intelligence for alleged unlawful conduct that manifested itself in the execution of his duties in that capacity."
She tells the Commission that the fact that Khumalo held another portfolio, in relation to the PKTT, was not within IDAC's knowledge.
"At no stage was I, as head of IDAC, aware that Lt Gen Khumalo had anything to do with the PKTT, let alone being its convenor," Johnson says.

Johnson, who has been in the employ of the National Prosecuting Authority for twenty years, tells the Commission that she will divide her statement into five key issues.
These are:
- The mandate of IDAC
- Allegations made by KZN police commissioner General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi that IDAC allegedly and unlawfully operates outside of its mandate.
- Allegations that IDAC allegedly pursued a criminal case against Lt-Gen Khumalo and other officials at Crime Intelligence in the furtherance of ongoing political interference in SAPS.
- The charges against Lt-Gen Dumisani Khumalo
- The arrest of Khumalo and the relationship between the charges faced by Khumalo and the mandate of IDAC

Matlala, his wife, Tsakane and three co-accused, are appearing in the South Gauteng High Court.
Yesterday they pleaded not guilty to all 25 charges, which include attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, money laundering, fraud and defeating the ends of justice.

The case against Julius Mkhwanazi and Witness K continues in the Johannesburg magistrate's court.
The suspended EMPD deputy head and Witness K were arrested on Friday in connection with the theft of precious stones.
The gems, worth nearly R15-million, were allegedly stolen in Killarney in 2023 under the guise of a police operation.
Mkhwanazi blames his ex-lover for his latest round of legal troubles.
He claims Witness K devised a scheme to implicate him in the robbery after their relationship ended.
The pair faces charges of fraud and robbery with aggravating circumstances.
