JOHANNESBURG - Ten half-naked teenage boys were rescued following a joint operation by private security, police, and the Hawks in the Johannesburg CBD.
According to Gauteng Hawks spokesperson, Katlego Mogale, JMPD officers were on patrol in Mulbarton when they were alerted about eight half-naked boys seen walking along a street.
The boys, believed to be foreign nationals, were unable to speak English.
Mogale said police were informed that two more teenagers had been taken away in a blue VW Jetta.
She said the vehicle was later intercepted in the Johannesburg CBD, after a high-speed chase.
Police arrested the 47-year-old foreign national and rescued the remaining two boys.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Booysens Magistrateās Court on Thursday.
He faces charges related to illegal immigration and suspected human trafficking.
