According to JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla, officials working alongside SAPS acted on a credible tip-off regarding a group of heavily armed men.
During the raid, officers searched a shack where the 13 men were found.
Officials also seized two unlicensed firearms and 92 rounds of live ammunition.
“The removal of these high-calibre rounds and illegal firearms serves as a significant blow to the local criminal infrastructure,” Fihla said.
He added that the recovered firearms will undergo ballistics testing as investigations continue.
