2023 BRICS Summit | Bloc to launch AI study group

JOHANNESBURG - Heads of state at the 2023 BRICS Summit have agreed to harness Artificial Intelligence.

Chinese President Xi Jinping says the five nations will launch an AI study group.

He says there is also a need to fend off the threats that come with this technology.

"Artificial intelligence is a new frontier of development, it may generate ernomous development dividends but also harbours risks and challenges.

"Our five countries have agreed to launch the AI study group of BRICS Institute of Future Networks at an early date," he said.

"We need to enable the study group to play it's full role, further expand cooperation on AI and step up information exchange in technological cooperation."
