27 officers killed between April 2024 and March 2025

SOWETO - The South African Police Service held a national day of prayer in Soweto as part of Police Safety Month. 

The service turned to prayer for the safety and protection of men and women in blue but also to remember the officers who lost their lives either on or off-duty.

At least twenty-seven police officers were killed in the line of duty from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025.

This is an increase compared to 39 who were killed between April 2023 and May 2024.
