Activist Thato Molosankwe laid to rest

MAHIKENG - Family and friends are gathering to bid farewell to slain Mahikeng activist Thato Molosankwe.

The popular community leader was shot and killed by unknown assailants at his home earlier this week.

Police are still probing the motive for the killing, as calls grow for justice and accountability.

As mourners paid tribute, the Mahikeng executive mayor, Tshepiso Mphehlo, formally honoured Molosankwe’s contribution to the community at his burial.

"For he has distinguished himself as a leader and he deserves a royal send-off.

"In recognition of his contribution and service to the community of Mahikeng, the Office of the Executive Mayor, by the powers vested in me by chapter 7 of the Constitution of the Republic, I have used my executive authorities to approve Mr. Thato Molosankwe to be laid to rest at Hero's Acre as a fitting honor to his legacy," Mphehlo said.
