AKA's father responds to Cele's testimony

JOHANNESBURG - A statement from the former police minister, Bheki Cele, in parliament this week, is still making waves.

Cele said that police did not rule out murder in the death of Anele Tembe, but prosecutors refused to take the case forward.

Tembe died in April 2021, just after being in the company of the late multi-award-winning rapper Kiernan Forbes, known as AKA.

Tembe’s death was thought to be a suicide after she fell from a hotel in Cape Town, but videos emerged online showing the couple in a heated argument.

Cele was speaking to parliament’s ad-hoc committee investigating claims of corruption in the criminal justice system.
