Alleged Sextortionist Awaits Bail Verdict

SOWETO - Alleged international sextortionist, Ifeel Simango, remains in custody, after his bail application in the Protea Magistrate's Court was postponed.

Simango faces murder, extortion, money laundering, fraud, and the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material charges.

He allegedly operated as a cyber predator, targeting minors.

Simango has been in custody since his arrest in July.

Simango was arrested following an investigation into the suicide of a 17-year-old Swiss teenager three years ago.

It's understood that the teenager was manipulated into sending explicit images of himself via WhatsApp by an individual using a fraudulent profile.

Police said they are aware of 52 victims worldwide, including two from South Africa.

All the victims are boys under the age of 18.

The case has been postponed to 28 September for bail judgment. Investigations continue, with Simango remaining the only suspect arrested so far.
