JOHANNESBURG - Family and friends, together with dignitaries, have gathered in Mpumalanga, where amaNdebele King Makhosonke II is being buried in KwaMhlanga.
The Monarch died on Tuesday at the age of 65.
He led the nation for 40 years and played a significant role in preserving its cultural heritage.
The King also championed education and land restitution.
Deputy President Paul Mashatile is expected to deliver the eulogy at the special official funeral.
The President led condolences to the Royal Household and Her Majesty Queen Sekhothali.
He said government would pay tribute to the King for his role as a nation builder.
