ETHEKWINI - ANC senior leaders are stepping up their campaign in eThekwini, hoping to win back voters ahead of the November elections.
The party has seen its support decline in the metro in recent years.
ANC NEC member and eThekwini Mayor Cyril Xaba said the party's focus is on regaining lost ground.
"The president is in the city, in KwaZulu-Natal, and the response is positive. And of course, ground lost is not something you can then say is permanent. It's because people, many people, did not turn out to the voting station. And now we're encouraging them that these elections are a do or die.
"Therefore, they might come out in their numbers and defend this democracy. It is about the defense of our democracy. We can't leave it to chance. You make a mistake now; you regret it for the rest of your life."
