ANC conference | Ramaphosa gets boost from Free State

ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa's position is looking more secure.

BLOEMFONTEIN - ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa's position is looking more secure.

One of the president's allies has gained the upper hand in the Free State ahead of the party’s elective conference.

A faction supporting Mxolisi Dukwana for ANC Free State chairperson has won the Mangaung Regional Conference, days ahead of the provincial conference.

But while the regional conference was underway, a parallel conference took place in Bloemfontein.

However, drama ensued before voting could proceed.

A decision was made that delegates would nominate from the floor because the conference was not given nomination packages.

It's believed the nomination packages were locked in the office of the Interim Provincial Committee, and the person with the key was not available.
