ANC NW chair tells members to toe the party line

ANC NW provincial chairperson, Nono Maloyi says the ANC won't hesitate to take action against those who defy its orders.

SUN CITY - No member of the North West ANC will be allowed to defy party instructions according to newly elected provincial chairperson, Nono Maloyi.

He says those who refuse to toe the line will face the music.

The party held its first Provincial Executive Committee meeting over the weekend.

One of its resolutions is to stabilise municipal governance.

The Ditsobotla municipality recently had two mayors because of factions and equitable share allocation withheld by National Treasury.

Maloyi said ANC councillors there last week were instructed to restore order, and they complied.

He adds that in Madibeng and Lekwa-Teemane municipalities, their councillors were also instructed not to collude with opposition parties to remove ANC mayors.

Maloyi said, "now we’re attending to all these municipalities. Kagisano- Molopo, I can’t leave that one, it’s very important. Now in Kagisano-Molopo as well, you had two mayors, two speakers, and there are problems administratively in Kagisano-Molopo."

"We’ve met with our caucus, we gave them seven days, their seven days is coming to an end this Friday, that they must go and restore the status quo."

"The Mayor who was deployed by the  ANC must get deployed  office. That one who not deployed by the  ANC must get out, including the Speaker and so on. So they’re going to do that before the end of this week.”

Maloyi says the ANC won't hesitate to take action against those who defy its orders.

He said, "when the leadership issues an instruction, and you defy that leadership, you must then know that the code of conduct will kick in immediately and unfortunately we have no time to waste. [If] you’re ill-disciplined we act against you immediately, we move.”

With just a few days left before the ANC opens leadership nominations for its National Elective Conference in December, Maloyi says branches will have the final say in who becomes the next party president.

But, he says as the province, they believe Cyril Ramaphosa has done a good job as party leader.
