The ANC’s national disciplinary committee is standing firm that it will be held virtually, but has allowed for a postponement so the message can be relayed to Zuma.
He is being charged with contravening rule 25 of the party's constitution, when he campaigned and endorsed the uMkhonto weSizwe Party, while still retaining his ANC membership.
Professor Andre Duvenhage suggests that the hearing itself is a mere formality, as the writing is on the wall for the former president.
The MK Party says the former president will consult with stakeholders about whether to attend the 23 July meeting.
But his wish is for the hearing to be held publicly.
