JOHANNESBURG - The ANC in Gauteng has welcomed the resignation of former Tshwane Mayor Murunwa Makwarela.
This comes after confirmation that an insolvency rehabilitation certificate given to the city manager was falsified.

The ANC has since slammed the DA, saying under their leadership corruption was rampant.
The ruling party accuses the DA of being aware of Makwerela's financial track record when electing him Tshwane speaker but only exposing him when he aligned with the ANC.
It says it will continue working to ensure the DA and its coalition partners are removed from power so that basic services can be restored.
