ANC Youth League | 50% youth representation in Parliament is a tall order: analyst

Political analyst Lukhanyo Vangqa says it will be a big job to get more young people into Parliament.

DURBAN - Political analyst Lukhanyo Vangqa says it will be a big job to get more young people into Parliament.

This comes after newly elected ANC Youth League president Collen Malatji said he will make sure young people make up 50% of ANC representation in the National Assembly.

"It's quite a tall ask that he has put for himself as an objective of the ANC Youth League's newly elected leadership," says Vangqa.

"The current target that they have is about 30% youth representation in both leadership structures of the ANC and they have failed dismally to deliver that so far."

The ANC Youth League has elected its top 6 leaders at its national elective congress over the weekend.

This was the league's first conference in nearly eight years.
