JOHANNESBURG - The Apartheid Museum and the Don Mattera Legacy Foundation will unveil the Don Mattera Obituary installation on Mandela Day.
The renowned poet and activist died on 18 July, 2022.
Teddy Mattera of the Don Mattera Legacy Foundation said this was a way to remember Mattera.
“His activism demonstrated very clearly the kind of commitment that he had made and so I think it's apt that the Apartheid Museum should take this time and look at how serendipitous it is that on this particular day, Mandela Day, we find Don Matera being celebrated and remembered at the Apartheid Museum.
“It really signifies the importance once again of an unsung hero who may have been sidelined either because of, you know, not belonging to the right political party at the time because a black consciousness person but all the same, you know, our heroes remain our heroes irrespective of what liberation camp they come from."
