JOHANNESBURG - The EMPD officer arrested for his alleged involvement in the theft of R14.9 million worth of precious stones will appear in court on Monday.
The officer based in the VIP Unit was nabbed on Friday night in Benoni.
He faces a corruption charge.
On Friday night, law enforcement agencies, IPID and the TRT, raided the home of one of the suspects.
He had allegedly promised to hand himself over to the authorities but never showed up.
The suspects had allegedly searched and raided a home in Killarney without a warrant and seized precious stones valued at just under R15 million.
Authorities said they are hot on the trail of two of the arrested officer’s co-accused.
