JOHANNESBURG - As the country remembers the women who made history in 1956, courageous women who have made a difference are also being honoured.
Whistleblower Babita Deokaran is being remembered for her courage in exposing corruption.
A monument dedicated to her life and legacy is being unveiled in her hometown of Mount Edgecombe, north of Durban.
Deokaran was killed outside her home in Winchester Hills, Johannesburg, in 2021.
It came after she blew the whistle on irregular payments at Tembisa Hospital.
Five years on, those responsible for her killing are yet to be prosecuted.
