JOHANNESBURG - Judge Ilse van Rhyn has pushed the start of Thabo Bester’s trial to a new provisional date, 18 January 2027.
But the convicted murderer and rapist’s lawyers told a hybrid sitting of the Free State High Court that his transfer to eBongweni Correctional Center had made it difficult for them to consult with their client.

As a result, if the issue is not resolved, Bester is considering representing himself.
