Blackouts increased to Stage 2 until 4pm

JOHANNESBURG - You may have been growing accustomed to the blackout patterns of Stage 1 till 4pm then up to Stage 3.

But Eskom has ramped that up to Stage 2until 4pm.

It says this is due to the loss of three generation units on Monday night.

Eskom says it will publish an update later on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa says blackouts will carry on into summer.

The utility will use lower demand to ramp up planned maintenance.

Due to the loss of 3 generation units last night, loadshedding will be increased to Stage 2 from 05:00 until 16:00 today. Eskom will publish another update this afternoon.
