A survivor of the Boksburg explosion says it's by the grace of God that she and her children are still alive.

JOHANNESBURG - A survivor of the Boksburg explosion says it's by the grace of God that she and her children are still alive.

The death toll now sits at 18 while more than 30 people are being treated for third-degree burns in various hospitals.

Those who survived have been left traumatised.

"How I managed was only by God's grace. I was standing there since the truck got stuck, and I heard the pressure," said Sandra Mombeshora.

"I was standing there [when] the first blast happened. I took my children out, we ran out the house."

One family has lost four children.

The driver of the tanker is facing multiple charges including culpable homicide and malicious damage to property.

The 32-year-old will make his first appearance in court on Wednesday.
