JOHANNESBURG - Alleged political fixer Brown Mogotsi has been accused of intimidating state witnesses while in police custody.
The allegations surfaced during his latest bail bid, bringing on new facts.
The investigating officer flagged a suspected falsified lease agreement and calls
by Mogotsi to a state witness from behind bars.
State prosecutor Thami Mpekana said Mogotsi had been calling state witness Thandiwe Senokowane from prison, with the assistance of his wife.
"On 5 June 2026, while Dorothy Lekgwaba was at her house, she received a call and handed the phone to her. It was Brown Mogotsi speaking to her. I am now of the view that the applicant will interfere with witnesses directly and indirectly to supply false statements."
Mogotsi’s lawyer, Nthabiseng Mohomane, said: “I am inviting the court to find that this allegation of intimidation is just an exercise to paint him with a negative brush with the hope that he continuously remains incarcerated."
The court must now weigh the serious witness intimidation allegations as it decides whether Mogotsi will stay behind bars pending trial or be released. Judgment will be delivered on the 29 June.
